A wonderful addition to any crèche scene, children are especially captivated by this impressive elephant figure with its blown glass tusks. Laden down with a brightly-colored houdah, the elephant is accompanied by an attentive elephant leader.
Finely handcrafted in Germany, these artistic papier-mâché nativity figures have the look of prized antiques. Still produced in the same Thüringian workshop where they have been made for more than a century, skilled artisans use the original moulds and traditional crafting techniques to create collectibles which are rich in detail and old world craftsmanship.
The "Elephant Leader with Elephant" set includes two pieces: the walking elephant is 7½" high to the top of his houdah and 10½" long; the elephant leader is 4¾" tall and holds a 7" long metal spear.
