Baby in a Red Heart Wax Ornament
Made in Germany in the early 1990's, this 100% solid wax heart ornament was created in a traditional European design which dates back to Victorian times. Cast from white wax, then dipped in a bright red wax coating and decorated with a gilt wax edging trim, each 1 3/4" by 1 3/4" heart cradles an inset, 3-D wax baby figure which measures 1 1/8" high. We purchased these ornaments from a German company which no longer makes wax items, so quantities are quite limited.

"Jesukind" from Germany

Made especially for Blümchen, these 100% wax figures are created using the original moulds. One of the oldest styles of Christmas ornaments, cast wax decorations have been made in Europe for more than 300 years. Our direct import from the manufacturer in Germany, all of these wax Baby Jesus figures wear golden Dresden trim halos and have hand painted faces and hair. Listed heights are for the figures only and do not include the halo.

A traditional decoration in Europe is to dress wax Christ Child figures in delicate silks and gilt trims, then set them into fancy mangers or elaborate framed dioramas, surrounded by flowers and frills.
And a popular Victorian ornament you can create is to nestle a tiny wax baby in a half walnut shell "manger", surrounded by Lametta tinsel "straw" .
