'Trikotine' is the German term for a Leonischer Draht
trimming which is a flat metallic tube that is knit from wire.
Made of super-fine copper wires that are woven together
into a stretchy netting tube, this metallic trimming has
been produced in Germany since Victorian times.
Trikotine is used in Europe by Florists and Milliners,
is a favorite of
artisans for jewelry making, and is
also popular with
traditional confectioners for
making old-style candy "flower" bouquets.
This
glistening metallic trim can be used flat as a
decorative accent, but it is perhaps most popular
for making small candy bags as party favors.
