Beautiful Birds Egg ~

The egg box was painted using a sky blue acrylic paint color. The stippled "cloud" effect was achieved by alternately sponging lighter blue-green and white paint over top of the darker blue base color. We cut various images from the scrap picture and combined them to create the all-over design. To decorate the edges of the egg box we used one design of the Flower Garland Border scraps (after cutting one side to give it a straight edge) and then glued the gold Dresden Extra-Thin Banding border around the edges of the box to give it a clean, finished look. We gave the decorated egg a light coating of water-based, satin-finish varnish to give the egg a slight gloss.

Baby Chicks Egg ~

The egg box was painted using Folk Art® Acrylic Paint #663 Metallic Solid Bronze. After tracing the inner shape of the oval Dresden frame on the top half of the egg, we painted a naturalistic background of sky and grass to match the colors of the scrap picture. We recommend that you glue on the Dresden edging trims first (start with the lacy style from the Fancy Borders assortment, then the Deco Leaf Banding border on the very edges of the egg halves) so that it is easier to judge the exact center top of the egg when gluing on the Dresden frame and scrap picture chicks. We finished the egg by painting the inner rim of the Dresden frame with a copper-color glass paint, then embellished the frame with four tiny daisies painted pink.

Whimsical Eastertide Animals Egg ~

We painted the egg box with acrylic paints to create a sky and grass background for die-cuts from the Whimsical Eastertide Animals scrap, with the rabbit cart pulled by hens on the front and the egg carriage pulled by rabbits design on the back. While you can paint the sky and grass in solid colors, it makes the egg extra-special if you add wispy clouds to the sky and paint the grass to match the grass on the scraps. After painting the egg, we added a light coat of a water-based satin-finish varnish to give it a slight gloss, then glued on the scraps. To finish the egg, we painted the edges of both halves of the egg (about ¼" in) with a dark gold metallic paint, then glued the Daisy Chain Dresden border around the box edges as a finishing touch.

Victorian Easter Greetings Egg ~

Paint the egg using Folk Art® Acrylic Paint #580 Metallic Taupe. Next, glue on the Dresden border trim to decorate the edges on both halves of the egg. Attach a 1½" wide ribbon to create the horizontal banner. We decorated the ribbon banner using two strips (placed side by side) of the pink roses Flower Garland Border scraps and centered on top of it a pale pink rose die-cut from the Dainty Pastel Rose Sprays scrap. Edge the ribbon banner with our Frilly Fleuron Dresden border in gold. Lastly, glue the Dresden wild roses, Easter Greetings script and scrap butterflies in place.

Loving Cherub Egg ~

This egg was painted with a combination of two Folk Art® Acrylic Paints: we mixed #659 Metallic Pearl White with #668 Metallic Plum to lighten the purple hue. Glue on the Dresden borders to trim the edges of both halves of the egg box, starting with the lacy style from the Fancy Borders Assortment in white, then finish the edges with the Beaded Edge border in pale gold. Glue the die-cut images of the cherub on both sides of the egg, but remember to leave enough room above the scraps for the Easter Greetings script. Carefully cut apart the Easter Greetings script, and glue in a curve along the top of the egg so that the words touch and it looks to be one piece.

Easter Bunnies Egg ~

After painting the egg a vibrant sky blue, we used a sponging technique to create the halo of "clouds" that surround the bunny images. The egg was then painted with a thin coat of a water-based, satin-finish varnish to add a soft gloss. Next, we glued on a different Easter Bunny scrap for each side of the egg. Depending upon which scrap image you choose, there may be space beneath the rabbit's feet; in that case you can fill in the gap by using flowers from the same scrap sheet. Glue the gold Pennant Points border on the edge of the egg with the points facing up, then glue the silver Petite Points border so its straight edge just touched the points of the larger Pennant Points Dresden trim.
